Growth and Evapotranspiration … and of course, more!

(“Ecological” paul)

Perhaps we do all understand its important effects on biomes …

Especially to the west and my land of “the time it never rained.”1

However!  If so, why then so many non-natives, frequent “burr hair-cuts” for lawns, over-grazing, conventional tillage;

Artificialization, & big schools & much other built environment, concrete and asphalt;

Little use of bicycles, lack of mass transportation;

Damn dams (with subsequent change in evaporation rates)?

Aw heck paul, we can fix most of our problems technologically with some plastic.  …

If not, we’ll simply technologically-fix it by applying even more plastic!)

(“Ecological” paul)

Well, Pavel, fact is we are changing rates of evapotranspiration like never before,

With devastating effects.

In the mountains of Honduras my farmer friends

Are desperately seeking alternatives to coffee

The climate and biome are changing so fast,

Coffee, a quite sensitive plant,

Isn’t well-adapted to the region anymore.

Concrete, autos, desertification, fossil energy, CO2, CH4 …

Climate change/growth, growth/climate change are having destructive effects,

Partially through changes in rates of evapotranspiration,

On socio-ecological justice.

You know.  For 200,000 years change was for the most part gradual

And we lived mostly in concert with dynamic homeostatic symbioses.

Now it is rapid, and–for the short-term–IS primarily detrimentally affecting

The poor, the powerless, the disenfranchised … the have-nots.

On the one hand, when I really stop to think about it …

Most leaders don’t make the effort to truly critically think and decision-make,

Kids don’t learn,

The public is definitely ignorant of ecological principles, processes, and concepts

Like transpiration.

The foundational charge of all human organizational entities should be the Golden Rule

And the citizenry, the schools, the city, the county … all working for quality life for all,

Ecology across developed curricula and their campuses

And with resultant critical thinking and decision-making.

ON THE OTHER HAND …

We are “moral men in an immoral society.”2

There is much hope across the globe

In Bolsonaro’s Brasil, Duterte’s Philippines, in Putin’s Russia, in Xi Jinping’s China, in Biden’s conspiracy/gun-crazed not-so-United States.

I do see good people trying hard to do good when I attend local governmental meetings.

And I especially like the little manual,

Ready-to-Go Instructional Strategies That Build Collaboration, Communication, & Critical Thinking,

Which I learned about at a recent Seguin, Texas school board meeting.

Well into the book, what “Strategies” authors White and Braddy wisely suggest for a fictional Coach Rogers

Include those that a Muslim physicist colleague of hydrogen bomb developer and Peacenik, Andrei Sakharov,

Tried to knowingly teach me during a tour of Texas agriculture I gave, thirty years ago.

School systems are slowly trying to learn and implement toward good!

(“But I wonder if the world can wait that long!”)3

Let me add …

We U.S. citizens consume 200 to 350 thousand kilocalories per capita daily

And as 4% of the world’s population, use 20+% of its energy and resources.

(We cornered power with: guns, germs, steel;4

indigenous genocide, slavery, usury;5

Development of a powerful military; sucking resources from south of the Tropic of Cancer.

Surely those of us with much more power than most in the world,

Would be willing to share DOWN toward equity?)

Nevertheless, you are right!

It ain’t easy!!!

But with mindsets of “Small Is Beautiful” and “Less Is More,”6

Coming up with strategic tools of conservation easements,7

And with resources for a process of profound and holistic ecological learning,

Development of equitable quality life

Should be RELATIVELY easy for us!

(Neoliberal Pavel)

Awwww.  …

Who cares?!?

Relax paul.  Lie back, enjoy.

Let our god the invisible hand of neoliberalism

Take care of your perceived ecological challenges

And those one billion extremely poor in the world,

Who really don’t want to work to invest smartly anyway …

Like I did with my ol’ pappy’s “good” money.
