i have tried to elicit a little thinking about religion & science
on pages 152-3, 183-4, & others in games we play …
more than 200,000 years of living Truthfully and 5,000 of searching for Truth*
(and elsewhere, e.g., in this blog site of this blog post, paulpeaceparables.com )
but these efforts at getting myself & others to cogitating a bit
were more about faith & science than religion & science
upon provcation by a new & dear friend … i momentarily agreed that science can be a religion
……………………..
let’s think a bit critically …
religion is “the service and worship of God or the supernatural”**
faith is “firm belief in something for which there is no proof”**
science is the quest for facts, knowledge (theories, laws & principles*** and possible forthcoming wisdom, prudence)
we are all scientists to some degree
(but do not confuse more pure scientists with technologists [“elon musk-type engineers/entrepreneurs”]
or those in the neoliberal capitalistic business of knowing well how to con others of their Power [“trumpster-type flimflamers”)
via the definitions above,
i am okay with religion, as long as we are serving (not worshipping) “dynamic homeostatic symbioses”, or nature
moreover, i do believe it is logical that we must have faith
in order to realize sustainable ecological community
however, that faith must always, or at least generally, be grounded in “good science!”
But … science is not religion!!!
