I was, I suppose, “indoctrinated” by real pacifist-christianity, and real caring & real sharing (including therein … learning processes for sustainable livelihoods for all … and staying as much as possible out of the way of Nature, i.e., living in concert with Nature). (In my heart, soul, and mind, I don’t truly believe I was hubristically indoctrinated into any Faith as much as continually humbly & slowly learning Scientifically bits & pieces about how to attempt to truly share and care for all in a profoundly holistic way, given a very chaotic Eaarth in which the chaos is increasing … AND given the limitations of my personal heart, soul, and mind … and the limitations of “my personal ecological community”.)
I AM NOT …
o much of a Patriot (other than a zealous patriot for this global Earth) … or a proud Veteran
o a willing capitalist or conspicuous consumer
o hedonistic or greedy
o here forever as a living (“organized”/ matter w/ energy) human … BUT do fervently believe I/We should try to make life good for all while I/We are “here” & functionally living …
and I AM NOT A FAN OF …
o large artificial schools out of touch with Nature and in which there is almost no ecological literacy
o nationalism & patriotism & fascism
o unbridled Power & arrogance & greed
o neoliberal capitalism/ consumerism/ militarism
o global economic Growth & continuing rapid artificialization of Eaarth (McKibben, 2010)
o our rampant destruction of “climax” ecological communities or destruction of ecological communities well on their way of succession toward “climax” ecological community
o excessive deep religiosity or being blessed or absolute believers in “The Bible” or “The Quran” or “The Torah”, etc., etc. … or knowers of “The Way”
o non-sustainable livelihoods that are not in concert with Nature & good for all, including other biota
o industrial agriculture
o “too much” living space per capita
o much of the capitalistic sports & recreation & leisure & tourism which is not conducive toward a continuing increase in ecological literacy & sustainable living for all
o inappropriate technology & engineering & manufacturing & development (much of the plastic, cars, planes, rockets, MacMansions, most lawns in the U.S.A., much of the (mis/dis) information-system
o guns & other arms/armaments in general
o apathy, complacency, “too much” prayerfulness, … the status quo
o many of the goals, policies, & plans and proposed measures, analysis, evaluations, & replanning of supposed “resilient, sustainable” ecological community by classical or conventional economics (measures of $, GDP, market price, “Growth”) vs. those of ecological economics (measures of joules, material throughput, ecosystem services, profound & holistic sustainability indicators)
……………..
Sure … I could go on. But hopefully you get the idea …
humble degrowth “communitarianism” over Hubristic Capitalistic Growth & Power.
Less Is More!
